Deer are supposed to be graceful animals. I lucked out and found the one that was clumsy as hell. A few weeks after I had purchased my Saturn, I was driving to a buddy’s house, rolling along a 45MPH street with woods on both sides. I saw the deer coming from the woods. I knew it was too late to stop in time. Yet I jammed my feet on the brakes, and braced for impact… and no crash happened. The next thing I remember, I was past the deer. Where was the deer? He had tried to jump the guardrail, clipped his front hoofs, and faceplanted into the shoulder of the road. The deer was standing up doing the deer equivalent of “no one saw that, right?”

I didn’t have to stare at deer ass for a mile, though.
