My son is upstairs clapping.  He’s been doing that a lot since Christmas morning.  You see, we got him the “Clapper”.  You know…clap on, clap off.  He hooked it up to his lamp, neon clock and mini Christmas tree.  He’s played with that more than Guitar Hero II, his power gift.  Kind of reminds me of being a kid, when an empty refrigerator box was more fun than Ken & Barbie.

My sister Nica sent me the gaudiest holiday sweater I’ve ever seen.  She actually re-gifted it. Our sister-in-law Robin gave it to her.  Robin found this hidden treasure at a Goodwill store in southern Indiana and knew that it was too beautiful to keep for herself.  I wanted to share it with you so I made my husband model it.  He looks happy doesn’t he?!  Notice this is a true holiday sweater, as every month is commemorated with a little something special.  Let me know, if you think there’s anything missing on this sweater, and I’ll find my needlepoint kit and get to work on it

I’m a grown woman and had never been to the Symphony before Saturday night, when I went to see the Magic of Christmas at the Lyric Theatre.  I confess.  I prefer Bon Jovi to Bach but I was blown away by the show.  It wasn’t boring! The McFadden brothers sang and tap danced along with the orchestral versions of Christmas songs we grew up with.  I especially loved the Grinch and his sad eyed dog, forced to steal the presents under the tree.  If you want to check it out, log on to www.kansascitysymphony.org

They’re looking for clerks, recruiters and census takers.  Call this toll free numer to check it out 1-866-861-2010.  Good luck.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the KC Singles benefit auction for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.  All I can say is, there are a lot of good looking singles in K.C.  L.A. has nothing on us.  I got $2,000 for a date with Chiefs quarterback Tyler Thigpin who gave the crowd a show.  He almost did cartwheels down the runway with his hottie friend Holly Star.  Click here to see who else was there that night. http://communityfaces.kcstar.com/?action=viewall&id=1609

What’s with dogs rolling in poop?  Saturday, I took Butch with me to Camp Bow Wow in Olathe for a radio remote.  While there, he got a bath and his nails clipped.  I get home, take him for a run in the neighborhood park and the first thing he does is find a poop pile, from some other dog, and roll in it.  Just when you think you understand dogs, they pull a stunt like that.  If you’re an animal shrink, please leave a comment. I’d like your take. Check out clean Butch on the left and dirty Butch on the right.  $15 down the drain!

For the past 20 years, I’ve celebrated Thanksgiving with my family on Sanibel Island.  When I say my family, I mean my mom and dad and my five siblings with all their kids.  It’s our one big vacation that we save up for every year.  Well, this year, it won’t be the same.  My 14 year old son Sterling just made his freshman basketball team.  Thanksgiving week he has 4 mandatory practices  along with a parent’s meeting with the coach.  That means my husband and son won’t be with me this Thanksgiving.  It was my son’s choice.  He just found out Thursday that he’d made the team and he feels that’s who he needs to be with next week.  I felt like crying all morning.  My son is growing up and this is just another step in that process.

Our own American Idol David Cook lives up to the hype with his new self titled c.d. that came out today. He rocks out on songs like “Light On” and ”Declaration” and he’ll have the Cougars purring when they hear “Come Back to Me”.  Listen below & let me know what you think.  Oh, and David…please call me so we can talk about your c.d. on the air.  913-744-3735.

Jeff & I went to Grinder’s last night for their monthly beer tasting party.  I don’t even like beer that much but  I love the concept of crowding around a table full of strangers, sipping unique beer paired with exotic food.  It’s boisterous fun and the strangers become friends.  Last night, it was a Jewish theme featuring the beers of Shmaltz Brewing Company.   My favorite was the “He’Brew Rejewvenator, a Belgian inspired beer fused with the juice of a fig. It was paired with bacon wrapped dates smeared with herbed cream cheese. Quite tasty. If you want to join us for the next party, sign up through their website www.crossroadskc.com. Oh, this is the photo of the owner, Stretch, an internationally recognized artist. He’s the guy who did all of those cool scultpures by KCI.
